Annabel Blanchard signs for Leicester City Women

Leicester City Women have captured the signing of highly rated England youth forward Annabel Blanchard from Liverpool Women.

  • Annabel Blanchard captained the Liverpool Women Development side to the FA WSL Development League title last season
  • The forward has represented England at both Under 17 and Under 18 level
  • The 18-year-old joins up with ex-Liverpool teammates Aimee Everett and Simran Jhamat

Leicester City Women Football Club have signed former Liverpool Women striker Annabel Blanchard following a successful season which saw her lift the FA WSL Development League title with the reds.

The forward Captained the Development side for Liverpool Women last season and netted 10 goals in 14 games as they clinched the title with three games to spare.

Whilst with Liverpool, Annabel made her first team debut in April 2018 and was named in the first team squad on a number of occasions under Liverpool Manager Vicky Jepson during 2018/19.

The youngster also has England experience having been part of the England Under 17 squad which finished fourth in the 2018 UEFA Women’s Championships in Lithuania.

Speaking to LCWFC TV, Annabel Blanchard said: “I wanted a new challenge, I was looking to develop more as a player and put myself into a new environment. The Club have been very welcoming, I get a family feel from the Club, they’ve made me feel comfortable.”

Leicester City Women Manager, Jonathan Morgan said: “Annabel is a player we’ve followed closely for the past 12 months, she’s a player that is going to bring a lot of excitement to the Championship.

She’s technically fantastic, she’s got a great eye for goal and her movement off the ball is brilliant. She’s bought into the philosophy of the Club straight away, she understands what she wants to do and she understands what we want to do.”

Annabel will join up with her new Leicester City teammates on Tuesday when the squad return for pre-season training ahead of the forthcoming 2019/20 campaign.
