Leicester City Women have added defender Rachel Brown to their first team squad before the transfer window closed at the end of January.

The defender was with Leicester City last season where she made 16 appearances and netted two goals including a well taken header in the dramatic 4-3 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Speaking to LCWFC TV, Brown said: “I’m delighted to have been given the recognition by the coaching staff and I’m looking forward to a strong second half of the season with the team”.

Leicester City Women Manager Jonathan Morgan said: “Rachel has worked hard this season. Just missing out on the cut to gain a regular first team place. The first half of the season she has applied herself well and I am delighted that she has become a part of the first team set up.

Credit must go to Leah and Sion and the Reserves for guiding her back to first team football. It shows at Leicester that we will always continue to push the youth and invest from within.”

This season, Rachel has made ten appearances for Leah Grant’s Reserves playing a pivotal role at the back as they have gone 16 games unbeaten since the start of the season.

Rachel netted for the Reserves during a 6-0 victory over Sporting Khalsa Ladies and has received three opposition Player of the Match awards during her ten games.

The youngster has also represented Scotland at Under 19 level, making three appearances during the recent Preparatory Tournament as Scotland gears up to host the Women’s Under 19 Euros later this year.
