Leicester City Women Launch Education Partnership with Brooksby Melton College

Leicester City Women have today launched their ‘Football and Education Programme’ in partnership with Brooksby Melton College.

– The ‘Football and Education Programme’ is for girls aged between 16-19 years old to combine their further education with their football playing pathway.
– Brooksby Melton College also host the Leicester Tigers and Mansfield Town FC on academy programmes.
– This will be the first female ‘Football and Education Programme’ established at the College.
– Coaching provided alongside studies by UEFA A & B Qualified Coaches

Leicester City Women’s ‘Football and Education Programme’ is a unique partnership with Brooksby Melton College which will see girls aged 16-19 study an array of courses offered by Brooksby Melton College whilst receiving high-quality football training which will run alongside their studies.

Brooksby Melton College offer a wide range of courses from Performing Arts, Catering and Hospitality, Health Care Professions and Film and TV Production through to Sport, Construction Animal Management, Equine Studies and the Environmental Industries.

The aim of this programme is to support these young girls in their development as elite players, helping them to develop lifelong skills both within the football arena and out. The programme will help to discover and develop the potential within each player.

Students who sign on to Leicester City Women’s ‘Football and Education Programme’ will receive eight hours of training per week (alongside their full-time studies). The training sessions will be run by UEFA A & B Qualified Coaches from Leicester City Women as well as Strength and Conditioning Coaches with access to Brooksby Melton College’s specialised Sports Gym.

The ‘Football and Education Programme’ will also provide students with the opportunity to play in both the National College League and the FA Women’s Super League Academy, having a clear pathway into Leicester City Women Football Club.

Commenting on the partnership, Sports Programme Manager, James Thorpe said: Brooksby Melton College are delighted to welcome Leicester City Women Football Club to the College as an official partner. The programme will see two organisations with similar ethos and beliefs allow young females to excel in football and education.

“Students will have a unique opportunity to study on a range of FE and HE courses at BMC, whilst training and representing LCWFC and BMC at football. Both parties are striving to provide outstanding provision in football and education to young females.”
