Sarah Jackson signs for Leicester City Women

Leicester City Women have enhanced their defensive options with the signing of Sarah Jackson for the 2018/19 FA Women’s Championship.

  • Leicester City Women have signed Sarah Jackson on a one-year deal.
  • The defender arrives at Leicester City after leaving Sheffield FC at the end of the 2017/18 season.
  • The 22-year-old defender has represented England at both Under-15 and Under-17 level.

Sarah Jackson arrives at Leicester City Women having spent three seasons with Sheffield FC in the FA Women’s Super League 2 making 20 appearances since breaking into the first team in 2016.

The 22-year-old defender becomes Jonathan Morgan’s third signing of the summer joining up with former Sheffield FC team-mate Melissa Johnson at Leicester City Women for the 2018/19 FA Women’s Championship season.

Having come through the Development side at Everton Ladies, Jackson joined Sheffield FC’s Development side in 2015 going on to make 23 appearances in her first season at the Club scoring 4 goals.

Speaking to LCWFC TV, Jackson said: “I’m delighted to have signed for Leicester City Women, I can’t wait to get started with this Club. It is the beginning of a very exciting journey and I feel privileged to be a part of it.”

Leicester City Women Manager Jonathan Morgan said: “Sarah is another great addition to our squad. With two-year’s experience at this level she will bring a lot of experience to our back line.

“When we knew Sarah was available we acted quickly to secure her signature as we feel she matches our style of play perfectly. She is another young player we are all excited to have with us at the Club.” 

The Central Defender has impressed with her performances towards the end of pre-season and will look to gel quickly with her new Leicester City team-mates when the 2018/19 season gets underway on Sunday.
