Lucy Johnson called up to England Under 17s

Leicester City Women defender Lucy Johnson has been included in Gemma Grainger’s England U17 squad for UEFA Women’s U17 Euro Finals

  • The Young Lionesses play Germany, Austria and Netherlands in the group stages
  • Gemma Grainger’s Squad have been drawn in Group B of the competition hosted in Bulgaria
  • The Tournament runs from Sunday 5 May until Friday 17 May

Leicester City Women’s Lucy Johnson has been called up to England’s Under 17s squad for the UEFA Women’s U17 Euro Finals that gets underway today.

The Young Lionesses have travelled out to Bulgaria with the side kicking off the tournament against Germany at 12 noon today.

Next up for Gemma Grainger’s side they face Austria on Wednesday 8 May before their final group game against the Netherlands on Saturday 11 May with both matches taking place in Kavarna.

England’s Under 17s have reached the semi-finals on four occasions, with their best finish coming in 2016 when they beat Norway 2-1 in the third place play-off.

The final of the 2019 UEFA Women’s U17 Euros takes place on Friday 17 May in Albenia.
