Leicester City Women Football Club have signed former England Under-20 international Taome Oliver.

  • Leicester City Women Football Club announce the signing of Taome Oliver.
  • The midfielder represented England Under-19s at the UEFA U19 Championships in 2015.
  • The 21-year-old scored three goals in 20 appearances for Oxford United Women last season.
  • Oliver came through the Birmingham City Centre of Excellence before joining Arsenal Women as a 16-year-old.

Oliver is Leicester City Women’s fifth signing of the summer as they begin preparations for their inaugural season in the FA Women’s Championship.

The 21-year-old signs on an initial one-year contract after leaving Oxford United Women, where she enjoyed a successful 2017/18 season scoring three times in 20 appearances.

The midfielder, who is currently studying for a law degree, came through Birmingham City’s Centre of Excellence before moving to Arsenal Women at the age of 16. Oliver gained valuable experience in Arsenal Women’s youth sides, winning the league title and FA Youth Cup in an unbeaten season with the club’s Under-17s.

Oliver then moved to Notts County Ladies ahead of the 2016 FA Women’s Super League before joining Oxford United Women at the start of the 2017 Spring Series.

Speaking to LCWFC TV, Oliver said: “I’m really excited to have signed for Leicester City for the upcoming season. From the outset it was clear that the Club was ambitious and that they also had great values.

There is a fantastic set of staff working behind the scenes and so much talent within the team that we are certain that we can compete at the top level of the Championship”

Leicester City Women Manager Jonathan Morgan said: “Taome is a versatile midfielder with a string of reputable clubs under her belt. She’s got experience from top clubs and coaches and hopefully she can bring that experience to Leicester.

As a player she wants to learn more and develop and having her in our squad will help both her and the other players progress.”

Taome Oliver joined up with her new Leicester City Women team-mates in July when the squad returned to training ahead of their inaugural campaign in the FA Women’s Championship.
