Greengrass: Important to get the three points

Leicester City Women Defender Charlotte Greengrass says the Foxes need to learn from their mistakes despite picking up three points against Millwall Lionesses on Sunday.

  • Leicester City Women picked up their second win of 2019 with a 3-2 victory over Millwall Lionesses
  • Defender Charlotte Greengrass says the side weren’t at their best but the three points is most important
  • The Foxes travel to face Aston Villa Ladies next week (Sunday 27 January)

Leicester City secured back-to-back victories for the first time since October as they picked up a 3-2 win over visitors Millwall Lionesses at Farley Way Stadium.

Goals from Melissa Johnson, Libby Smith and Ella Franklin-Fraiture secured the points despite Millwall making it a nervy final 15 minutes having reduced the deficit to just one from the penalty spot.

Greengrass told LCWFC TV: “We definitely weren’t at our best, we admit that. We hold our hands up to that. I think the important thing is the three points and we got the three points.

“We’ve grouped together as a bunch so much over Christmas, we knew what we could do. fair enough we’ve not put it out on the pitch today, but we’ve stuck together in the second half and made sure we got the win still.”

Charlotte Greengrass spoke to LCWFC TV following the win

“We’ve not conceded [an equaliser], and we’re making sure that we’re getting the win at the end of the day. Today’s probably good for us, we’ve seen maybe what’s not working or where we can improve.

Leicester City Women next head to Villa Park, for next Sunday’s Championship match against Aston Villa Ladies.

Highlights: Leicester City 3 – 2 Millwall Lionesses

It’s a match which has added interest having been moved to Villa Park recently but the Foxes will want to show their best side having been frustrated in both the two matches against Villa so far this season.

“We’ll regroup in training this week and next, we’ve got time to plan, the girls are definitely up for it, it’s a big game for us and we definitely want to get the win.
