Preview: LCWFC vs Tottenham Hotspur

Leicester City Women are back in Championship action tonight as Tottenham Hotspur Ladies visit Farley Way Stadium with the Foxes looking to put Sunday’s Continental Tyres Cup defeat to Aston Villa behind them.

Jonathan Morgan’s side play their first ever home league match in the FA Women’s Championship this evening as Karen Hills and Tottenham Hotspur arrive at Farley Way Stadium.

Both sides picked up three points on the opening weekend of the league with Tottenham coming from behind to beat London Bees 2-1.

Of the sides who picked up a winning start to the season, only Lewes are also in action this evening, whilst Manchester United host Sheffield United tomorrow.

Leicester City Women will be looking to put in a positive performance after their 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa Ladies on Sunday.

When, Where and Tickets

Leicester City Women are in action at Farley Way Stadium tonight for their first home league match of the season. They face Tottenham Hotspur Ladies in the FA Women’s Championship on Wednesday 19 September, kick off is at 7:45pm.

Tickets are available on the gate tomorrow, priced at £5 Adults and £2.50 for Concessions/U16s.

Jonathan Morgan is seeing a growing number of injuries amongst his squad, with Hayley James taken off after a knock in the first half of Sunday’s defeat to Aston Villa. Hayley joins Ella Franklin-Fraiture and Taome Oliver on the list of those who will miss the game through injury whilst Serena Fletcher and Mai Moncaster are also likely to miss the game having picked up knocks.


Karen Hills’ side will arrive in Leicester this evening on a good run of form, striker Coral-Jade Haines netted a hat-trick in her previous match against WSL side Yeovil Town and will be looking to extend her season tally against Leicester tonight.

How the FA Women’s Championship looks after round one of fixtures


This is the first meeting between these two Clubs’ senior sides whilst their reserves met in the FA Women’s Premier League Reserves Cup back in 2014 with Leicester City coming away with a 3-0 victory.
