Leicester City Women have signed striker Fiona Worts who returns to the Foxes after two years away from the Club. The striker netted an impressive 34 goals in 43 appearances for Leicester City in a two-year spell between 2013 and 2015.

Since leaving Leicester, Fiona has maintained her goal-scoring form, netting nine goals in 14 matches for Adelaide before returning to England to join AFC Guiseley.

Speaking to LCWFC TV, Fiona Worts said: “I’ve been waiting patiently for the opportunity to return to Leicester and I’m thrilled it’s finally arrived. It’s going to be a big challenge for me, it’s a level I haven’t played at before but I’m really looking forward to it.

I have enjoyed working with Jonathan previously, the bar is always set high but it’s very rewarding. I have always liked the attitude of the Club, there’s always been a strong team spirit and it’s a very supportive environment.

The Club has come a long way in the last few years, they had big ambitions and have pulled it off. It will be a tough season with some interesting challenges. We have a strong team with some very good signings. We’ll keep working hard, take it one week at a time and it should prove to be a rewarding season.”

Leicester City Women Manager, Jonathan Morgan said: “Bringing Fiona back to the Club is fantastic, I remember when she left to go to University we said we would work together again and I am delighted to make this a reality.

Fiona is a sharp shooter and somewhat unknown but I anticipate her to have a big impact this season. She is focussed, driven and determined and has all the attributes to succeed at this level.”

The striker came through the Leicester City Centre of Excellence before joining Leicester City Women in 2013. Having re-joined the Foxes, Fiona Worts could be in line for her second debut for the Club tomorrow (Sunday 19 August).
